How to Make Homemade Wine from Store Bought Grape Juice
July 28th, 2008 byIf you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
I found this video on YouTube and it had me wondering how many people make wine from store bought grape juice.
Have a look at the video and let me know if this is something you’d try yourself. I’m certainly not knocking the video or this wine - just not something that I had thought of …
Would love to hear what you think so be sure to leave a comment!

Like you I am a lover of wine. I developed my interest in wine in university when my friends would host wine and cheese parties, which were not only fun because of the new people I met but also because of all of the different types of wine I was exposed to.

Thanks for that video.
I started homebrewing when I found the following recipe (http://www.yobrew.co.uk/cider.php) using store bought apple juice.
I have since been experimenting with several degrees of sucess with other 100% juices available. Although the recipe is labeled as cider, the resulting brew is more like wine.
Good work with this blog, I find it very useful and inspiring.

Hi Scott,
I just finished making a grape wine from juice.I started it back in April, and just bottled it on July 31st.
I used cheap Wal-mart brand 100% juice (6 gal.)added yeast,
and let it work it’s magic.ABV is 13.5%,and yes, there was a lot of sugar added.but the great thing is,when it came time to bottle,it was ready to drink.I gave a few bottles away ,
and everyone loved it.All that fun cost me about $1.00 a
bottle.I even have offers to buy some.

I thought there were preservatives in store-bought juice that prevent fermentation. I guess there must not be enough preservatives to make a difference.

Hey Scott
I Like the Blog, most informative. I have made wine in the way distant past, about 25 years ago in a cooler…LOL, So I guess you could say I’m a newby to the correct way of wine making. My father inlaw has made wine from concentrate but not juice out of the bottle. And it’s not bad…I have a bottle that was made around april of 2003, I made on a smaller scale with grapes, Hope it hasen’t turned to vinegar…he he
Will be starting another batch soon.
Talk to as I learn my way

I’ve been having fun reading all the info here. I just started my first, and second batches of wine ever!! Started with raspberries from the garden and blueberry from a concentrate… I’m learning as I go and feeling more confident with every hydrometer reading that goes down!! I’m a sweet wine lover… before bed…. and looking forward to making it the way I like it.
Thanks for your sharing of info.
